Eugene Peltola, the husband of Representative Mary Peltola of Alaska, died Wednesday following an aircraft accident, the representative’s office said.
“We are devastated to share that Mary’s husband, Eugene Peltola, Jr. – ‘Buzzy’ to all of us who knew and loved him – passed away earlier this morning following a plane accident in Alaska,“ Anton McParland, the congresswoman’s chief of staff stated. No details on the accident have been made public.
Mr. Peltola had spent 34 years working for Alaska, with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service there and later as the regional director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Alaska.
Congresswoman Peltola is returning home to be with family.
